Altru Health System
Marcelo Petrella
TV Commercial

Every hospital has a what. Altru built theirs around the why. When Grand Forks' landmark new hospital opened its doors, Fellow was brought in to tell the story behind every design decision — the glass that floods rooms with healing light, the NICU built for families, the operating rooms engineered for precision. A 60-second spot that moves seamlessly between architectural blueprint and human reality, revealing the intention behind every wall, window, and wire.

Shot over two days inside the new Altru facility, Director Marcelo Petrella built a visual language that treats the hospital itself as a character. Dynamic camera moves seamlessly flow through four distinct environments — the sunlit atrium, the NICU, the ER, and the operating room — while handheld close-ups brought warmth and intimacy to every human interaction. A drone established the building's scale from the outside; everything inside was designed to make you feel the care within it.

The spot's defining visual device is the transition between architectural plans and live reality — a seamless shift from blueprint to the world it built. Fellow developed a clean, minimalistic sketch style in line with Altru's existing print assets: white pencil lines animating over Altru's signature green, with subtle cross-hatching adding depth and dimension. Transitions were built shot by shot — tracking, rotoscoping, and staggering the fade-ins between layers so that each environment comes to life piece by piece, exactly as its designers intended. The what reveals the why, frame by frame.

Architecture shapes how people heal. This spot made that visible — for a community that deserved to understand exactly what was built for them, and why it matters.
